About

Global X ETFs, the New York-based provider of Exchange Traded Funds, is looking for a Director of Sustainable Investing to join our growing team. This position reports to the Head of Research & Strategy and will play a critical role in both defining the firm’s overall approach to sustainable investing and helping design individual sustainable investment strategies. In addition, s/he is expected to serve as the functional expert for Global X’s growing suite of sustainable ETFs, which includes developing and communicating to clients educational content, market insights, and research reports on a range of topics from ESG integration, to climate change-related themes, and values-based approaches. This high visibility, client-facing role will work with several teams at Global X, including sales, product development, and marketing, both in the U.S. and internationally. A successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to seamlessly blend functional knowledge of sustainable investing with strategic thinking, superb communications skills, and an entrepreneurial approach to furthering the firm’s efforts in this fast-growing space.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and execute on opportunities globally to expand and/or enhance the firm’s sustainable investing offering, thought leadership, and impact
  • Lead the firm’s sustainability committee which features senior leadership and representatives across several groups and regions and sets the firm’s short- and long-term sustainable investing strategy
  • Establish and execute on a research pipeline of original and insightful sustainable investment research reports, educational materials, videos, and presentations/webinars
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and product specialist for Global X’s existing and future sustainable ETFs, including communicating with institutional investors and financial intermediaries (financial advisors, registered investment advisors, and brokers) about these strategies
  • Develop product positioning for the firm’s sustainable investments and conduct trainings and teach-ins with our sales and marketing teams
  • Monitor and analyze news, research reports, industry trends, economic data that may drive the performance of our sustainable investing strategies
  • Represent the firm in public relations opportunities, conferences, and other public-facing capacities as a thought leader in all topics related to ESG, impact, and sustainable investing
  • Work with the product development team to identify opportunities for new sustainable investment strategies, design innovative index methodologies, and potentially enhance existing approaches
  • Monitor the changing regulatory landscape around sustainable investing and work with internal stakeholders to ensure firm practices are best-in-class
  • Conduct regular and ad-hoc research projects for internal and external stakeholders on sustainable investing topics

 

Required Skills:

  • 8-12 years of work experience, including 4+ years of direct experience in sustainable investing and related topics such as ESG integration, environmental themes, impact investing, UN principles for responsible investing, and UN sustainable development goals
  • Strong understanding of the evolving regulatory environment in both the U.S. and Europe as it relates to sustainability and ESG reporting and marketing
  • Familiarity with the entire sustainable investing ecosystem, including index and data providers, regulatory bodies, standards developers, consultants, and more
  • Adept at synthesizing and concisely communicating nuanced ideas to investors and senior decision makers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to large groups
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects in a dynamic environment
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, who can identify and capture valuable opportunities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with general financial research and analysis techniques
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Series 7/63 (attaining or transferring existing licenses will be required within first few months of start date)

Education

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a leading university, ideally in business, finance, statistics, economics, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related fields
  • Progress towards or completion of CFA, MBA, CFP, CAIA, CSRIC, or similar professional designation is preferred
