About

Circulate Capital is an investment management firm dedicated to incubating and financing companies that prevent ocean plastic and advance the circular economy. The Circulate Capital Ocean Fund (CCOF I) is the firm’s first fund, which focuses on the prevention of mismanaged plastic waste in countries located in South Asia and Southeast Asia, regions that contribute disproportionately to ocean plastic pollution. The founding investors include PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, Dow, Danone, CHANEL, Unilever, The Coca-Cola Company, and Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC. The firm is now expanding to create a Latin America and Caribbean fund (CCOF LAC) with a similar investment and impact strategy. Circulate Capital is looking to hire an accomplished private equity or venture capital partner to direct the replication of its first Ocean Fund in Latin America and the Caribbean. This includes supporting the existing Circulate Capital leadership team in fundraising (anchor investor is committed already), legal set-up in Latin America and the Caribbean, and stakeholder management. The Latin America and Caribbean Partner will be responsible for directing high-quality deal-flow across geographies, performing due diligence, completing investments, and managing the portfolio to support the effective growth of companies and eventual exits. The Partner will also supervise an existing team of 4-6 investment professionals across Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, and Chile. As the lead Partner for CCOF LAC, you will report to the CEO & Founder, Rob Kaplan. This is a full-time position based in Latin America with travel required for the effective execution of responsibilities. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support in fundraising and directing in regional stakeholder management pre-first-close of the fund
  • Sourcing and development of investment opportunities for CCOF LAC
  • Coordinating due diligence, negotiations, and closing of investments
  • Working with portfolio company management teams regularly to guide the growth of their business in achieving both financial and impact targets, serving as Board member for some companies
  • Managing the investment team through solid behavior modeling, coaching, and mentoring to achieve the above and to further develop team members
  • Coordinate with the Impact team to ensure targets are set, achieved, and reported
  • Contribute to LP engagement and PR/Comms strategy as needed
  • Suggest improvements to our approach, process, products, and services
  • Be a solid partner for the fund, our sister funds, and colleagues

Key Competencies:

  • At least 15 years of growth capital or private equity investment experience (Series B/C) with at least 10 years of experience working in Latin America; preference for sector experience in waste and recycling or similar sectors such as manufacturing or supply chain
  • Proven interest in solving complex environmental issues
  • Solid history and experience through a full fund lifecycle
  • Proven ability to support and guide management teams in building their businesses, implementing systems, processes, and governance at an international level
  • Expertise in deal structuring, due diligence, and closing processes
  • Proven ability to coach and develop team members to their potential
  • A significant network of peers and related ecosystem stakeholders in the region
  • Experience managing diverse stakeholder initiatives, including multinational corporates, NGOs, and government stakeholders
  • Solid fundraising skills including effective management of fundraising pipeline and working with development finance institutions
  • Adept at coaching and engaging with remote, multicultural teams using collaboration tools, such as Google Suite, Microsoft, and CRMs
  • Fluency in English and Spanish; knowledge of Portuguese ideal
