As Upaya’s Development & Marketing Associate you will be the organizational glue that keeps our Seattle team together and shows a friendly face to our donors. This position reports to the CEO, with marketing-related oversight by the Marketing and Communications Manager. We are looking for a self starter who Is highly detail oriented and excited to be part of a dynamic nonprofit. If you enjoy systems and organization, messaging and communications, and making authentic connections with our supporters, this could be the role for you.
Donor database management and analysis (experience working in Salesforce preferred)
Event planning, including volunteer management (think Upaya Gala 2023!)
Marketing and digital communications (e-appeals, social media)
Donor relations (gift acknowledgements, personal outreach as needed)
Support the CEO and Board of Directors in scheduling and preparing for board meetings, retreats and donor calls
Processing gifts through Salesforce and generating letters of acknowledgement to donors
Writing the first draft of an e-appeal for our current fundraising campaign
Touching base with a gala volunteer about procuring live auction items
Collaborating with Upaya leadership on generating a Salesforce report on our top tier donors and their giving history
Meeting with the CEO on compiling department reports for the next board meeting
Participating in an all-team meeting where you hear about the newest partner entrepreneur and how they are generating jobs for the poor
If you can spot a typo in a donor letter from 30 yards away
You love organizing events and inspiring volunteers
You’re comfortable taking ownership of your responsibilities and able to organize and prioritize your work with minimal supervision
You enjoy collaborating with your colleagues to brainstorm the best ways to reach current and new donors
You care about our donors and approach donor relations from the perspective of “what would make me feel appreciated and seen?”
You’re comfortable with change and can adjust to shifting needs within the scope of your work
Two years’ experience in an administrative position, preferably in a not-for-profit development office
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Database management experience (Salesforce strongly preferred)
Solid verbal and written communications skills
Report to: CEO
Time Commitment: This is a full-time position. Weekly evening meeting with our India colleagues from November – March. Occasional evening meetings with our India colleagues may be required throughout the year.
Location: Seattle-based. We are a hybrid office with work from home on Mondays and Fridays, and work from our South Lake Union office Tuesdays-Thursdays. This is subject to change
Start Date: ASAP
Compensation: $45,000 annual salary + reimbursement for health benefits
