Job Details

Marshall Impact Accelerator

Head of Impact Investments

Salary from £55,171 to £63,883 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £70,790 pa inclusive of London allowance.

A competitive salary market supplement in addition to the base salary offered will be considered for the right candidate.

Established in 2022, the Marshall Impact Accelerator identifies, invests in, and accelerates the most promising social ventures with ‘social unicorn’ ambitions – creating impact on the scale of billions. These social ventures are addressing the world’s most pressing social problems, spanning health, climate change, social inequality, and more. Based in the London School of Economics and anchored with a £50 million philanthropic gift, the Marshall Impact Accelerator aims to leverage the research within the LSE to identify critical gaps and levers within pressing social sectors, and then find ventures with solutions to those problems.

The Head of Impact Investments will be responsible for the global sourcing, recruiting, vetting, and selection of 12-24 social ventures (non-profit and for-profit) for admission to the highly-competitive Marshall Impact Accelerator bi-annually (twice per year). The role will involve designing a world-class application process aligned with the values of the Marshall Impact Accelerator, consulting experts in the field, running multiple thematic investment committees to contribute to selection, narrowing down an extensive pool of applicants into a short-list, and communicating appropriate responses to applicants. Candidates will also be responsible for building and forging global relationships with co-investors and co-grantors that can support selected ventures in their growth paths, post-Accelerator.

Candidates should have substantial relevant experience leading investments and/or grant identification, selection, and disbursement processes at a previous international NGO or investment fund, in addition to strong investment skills, ranging from an understanding of grants, debt, and equity as well as creative financial instruments. Candidates should also have the ability to design and operate an end-to-end investment process, from problem identification through to disbursement, as well as an energetic and enthusiastic passion for the impact investment and social sector.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities.
