Black Farmer Fund seeks a full-time Impact Investment Associate. The Impact Investment Associate plays a significant role in Black Farmer Fund’s integrated capital strategy. The primary responsibilities include vetting prospective investments, supporting applicants throughout the financial due diligence process, and providing on-going support to existing portfolio companies. JOB DETAILS:

Maintain a thorough understanding of the investment thesis and mission of Black Farmer Fund

• Discover, define and evaluate new investment opportunities and their fit in the portfolio, in collaboration with colleagues

• Conduct due diligence for prospective investment opportunities, including leading quantitative analysis, developing investment memos and performing financial modeling

• Attend and participate in Investment Committee meetings as needed, presenting information where applicable

• Integrate qualitative feedback from the Investment Committee in coordination with the investment guidelines to assess candidates alignment w/ Black Farmer Fund’s mission

• Serve as a loan officer and support applicants throughout the financial due diligence process, taking the time and care to explain technical terms, respond to questions, assist with reporting requirements, and provide business development support as needed

• Coordinate with Technical Assistance Lead to ensure that investment memos, loan terms, and grant terms reflect the business entrepreneur’s vision and goals; track technical assistance provided to portfolio companies

• Collect legal documents from companies and liaise with fund attorneys to put together documents for investment

• Maintain portfolio tracking reports and written documentation on investment decisions

• Research and present analyses of the total portfolio performance and risk profile

• Identify and coordinate external pro-bono legal expertise that can support Black Farmer Fund’s investees during contract negotiation

• Coordinate and attend annual meetings with portfolio companies, assist with analysis of impact data, assist with annual impact report, and assist with on-going impact management of portfolio

• Coordinate with Communications Lead to provide information on portfolio company summaries for social media

• Perform any and all other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature and character those above, which may be assigned and/or directed
