We are looking for an Investment Analyst with investment experience in East Africa. As an Investment Analyst you will work closely with other investment team members to generate investment opportunities for Goodwell Investments across East Africa by growing and managing a network of key relationships within the private sector. This position suits someone with a results-oriented-mentality, who enjoys a challenge to develop and analyse investment appraisals. You will be working closely with the East-African investment team, while reporting to the Investment Manager. This position is based in Nairobi.

Responsibilities and duties

• Investment support
  • Support in investment-related functions. This covers the full breadth of investment activities from deal sourcing, execution, monitoring and management.
  • Create financial models and deal screens/concept notes to support the investment analysis.
  • Quarterly reporting on investee company financial indicators and social performance / ESG indicators.
• Pipeline building, management, and monitoring
  • Review applications received by potential investees to understand mandate fit.
  • Follow up with potential investees on business updates.
  • Engage with incubators, accelerators, and other industry events which contribute to pipeline.
• Research
  • Conduct industry research and associated analysis to inform strategy, portfolio, and new business decisions.
• Operations
  • Ad-hoc operational requirements to support the proper functioning of the local office.

Education and experience requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, business administration, or finance.
• A minimum of 0-3 years of working experience in the field of finance and management consulting.

Knowledge and skills

• Should possess financial modelling skills (beginners or advanced)
• Must demonstrate strong communication (verbal and written) skills
• Proficient in English
• Excellent PC/MS Office skills
• Meticulous, high level of accuracy

Personal characteristics

• Proven interest in impact investments or investments in emerging markets
• Pro-active team member
• An interest in working in an international setting and capable of navigating between different teams and cultures
• Willingness and ability to pro-actively provide and receive constructive feedback
