This Associate will work directly with Quona’s Africa/Cross-Border investment team on all aspects of the investment and portfolio management processes, with exposure to high-energy entrepreneurial and VC ecosystems in sub-Saharan Africa, MENA and beyond.

Quona’s investments in Africa and MENA include iconic fintech and embedded finance startups such as Sokowatch, Cowrywise, Capiter, Lulalend, VertoFX and Yoco.

The Opportunity

• We are looking for a high-performing Associate to join Quona’s Africa/Cross-border investment team. The role will be based out of Cairo or Dubai.

Responsibilities

• Source of investment opportunities through analytical thesis development and systematic engagement with entrepreneurs and key partners such as early-stage investment funds, accelerators, and other ecosystem players
• Conduct market research, company mapping, and competitive analysis within key fintech sub-sectors and target markets
• Evaluate investment opportunities by interviewing teams, partners, and clients of pipeline companies; build investment theses; conduct strategic and financial analyses; and assist with pipeline management
• Analyze portfolio performance, assist with regular reporting to investors and contribute to the development of additional LP-facing collateral
• Support portfolio companies and value-add initiatives (i.e., conduct research to facilitate strategic discussions and decision-making, participate in operational sprints, and work with the Quona Platform team)
• Support the Quona team in operational initiatives, such a pipeline management and knowledge capturing / sharing
