In June 2020, Echoing Green launched a $50 million Racial Equity Philanthropic Fund (REPF) and has since increased that fundraising goal to $75 million. With this fund, Echoing Green furthers a 35-year commitment to bold, strategic investments in racial equity work. Echoing Green’s Programs Team is responsible for selecting and supporting the Fellows who are selected as part of the REPF, offering funding and capacity-building for the incredible leaders working on the frontlines of racial equity and justice.

Reporting to the Vice President, Programs, we are looking for a Managing Director to lead the planning, coordination, and year-round execution of operational goals for the Programs team.

What You’ll Do

As the Managing Director, Programs, you will lead key workstreams that include:

Leading Process

    • Build, audit, and iterate on operational systems to improve Programs team effectiveness and efficiency in collaboration with VP, Programs
    • Drive programmatic progress against key milestones by developing and maintaining integrated project plans, resource plans, and risk and issue management plans
    • Oversee annual budget planning and ongoing budget monitoring across Onramps, Capital, Capacity, and Community programming in collaboration with VP, Programs
    • Oversee key, cross-department Fellow-facing processes, including monthly newsletter and Finalist-to-Fellow contracting
    • Assess proposed events and projects in Programs team pipeline to determine feasibility

Leading Programs

  • Partner with VP, Programs and other internal stakeholders to prioritize key strategic offerings for Onramps, Capital, Capacity, and Community
  • Communicate with the External Affairs, Finance/Operations, and Thought Leadership teams to ensure cross-organization visibility into the Programs team’s work
  • Monitor cross-Programs team data reporting that drives transparency and produces insights to support impact-based decision-making
  • Assist in the screening, decision-making, and due diligence review of Fellowship applications and follow-on investment decisions
  • Represent and/or attend meetings and events with the VP, Programs as needed
  • Travel likely 1-2 times per month, including key meetings in Echoing Green’s NYC office, site visits to Fellows, and/or convenings to represent Echoing Green (both national and international locations)

Leading People

  • Supervise consultants, contractors, and internal departmental staff toward data-driven program implementation goals
  • Drive staff professional development and performance through ongoing, direct, positive and constructive feedback and coaching
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of critical relationships, workstreams, and projects that rely on VP, Programs awareness or involvement, and/or especially interest the VP, Programs
  • Plan recurring programs team mini-retreats, weekly team meetings, and other durable rituals to build team camaraderie, information exchange, and depth of knowledge in collaboration with VP, Programs and leaders of Onramps, Capital, Capacity, and Community

Benefits

Base Salary: $175,000/year

Echoing Green offers a full benefits package designed to support employee wellness. This includes up to 27 days off per year, a best-in-class health insurance which covers medical, dental, and vision needs, fully paid parental leave, a monthly well-being stipend of $100/month, a monthly wireless stipend of $100/month, professional development stipend of $1000 per fiscal year, and a 403(b)-retirement savings plan with an employer match up to 7% of annual salary .

While our office is located in New York City this role can be fully remote.
